I am aware that people on this list will think this is unusual. But I'm sure that someone out there will be able to understand.
Last Spring, I rescued Rupert, a 4 yr old bull (now steer) from the slaughterhouse, where he was to have been killed the very next day. He and I were developing a neat friendship, and I was impressed by his friendliness, his impressive bearing, and his inquisitive nature. I begged for his return to Merck Forest, and thankfully my plea was granted; I now have legal custody of Rupert and his beautiful 18 month-old son, Robin (also a steer), with whom he is very bonded. We've been evicted from Merck, as they have gotten rid of most of their animals.
These are extraordinary animals, who have sweet, engaging temperaments, and have quite captured my heart. I am looking for a place where they can be safely and happily boarded in Vermont, until such time as I can arrange to take care of them myself. Ideally, I'd like to find someone with a hobby farm; an inn; a retired farmer who misses animals on the fenced property; someone who needs fields browsed and would enjoy seeing the landscape animated by these beautiful beasts; a weekender who lives afar and has property in Vermont that's just sitting here, unoccupied...
If you saw their pictures (I have about 1,000!), you would understand.
If anyone has any ideas, or knows someone who might be interested in helping out (I'd pay for hay, of course), I'd be very grateful to hear from you. Thanks!
