Well, calving for 2006 has already begun here, so far 2 bulls and one heifer.

"Bruce" and "Bucky", born in Jan., being groomed for oxen.

"Lana", a heifer born this week to "Anna", her fourth calf.

Everybody's doing fine, I guess the warmer weather was a blessing in some ways other than just producing mud.

I haven't checked the forum for a while so I missed this post until now. Nice babies Phil! Good start for the new year! By the way, don't we get to deduct these babies as dependents on our tax returns? (Hysterical laughter here)

Gail

Nope, not as dependents, as farm losses!

As usual, I am running behind on checking the forum, so congratulations on Molly, Phil!
How did you manage to be right there with the camera almost at birth? Just lucky?

I have decided to call Athena's calf "Maia", since she was born in May, and in Greek mythology, Maia was the eldest of the Seven Sisters of the Pleiades. Now all I need are six more heifer calves to name for the rest of the sisters....

Gail

Hi Gail, glad you could check in. Usually I just go out in the morning and there they are! Sometimes it happens between AM and PM chores.

Here's a couple more:

Here's Columbia with new heifer "Madison".

Do you see the family resemblence, Gail? Columbia is the daughter of your Duchess.

Doreen and new heifer "Coleen"

Doreen is the daughter of your Pandora.
